New Upscale Towson Establishment Open for Business
The owners of the Recher Theater and the Rec Room and Patio in Towson this week announced that their new venture, the Towson Tavern, is open for business at 516 York Road. The restaurant and bar is offering a limited, light fare menu to start, with a larger menu to come this spring after further kitchen expansion.
The restaurant features the cuisine of Executive Chef Daniel Henry, formerly Executive Chef of the Capital Grille in Baltimore. In addition, the Towson Tavern offers an excellent selection of wine, both by the glass and bottle, as well as premium spirits and an extensive craft beer selection.
“We wanted to create a sophisticated but comfortable atmosphere – somewhere you might go for date night, but also for a relaxed evening with friends,” said Brian Recher, owner of the Towson Tavern along with his brother, Scott Recher. “The menu will change seasonally, and will be upscale but also accessible.”
The name Towson Tavern is a tribute to the original establishment run by Ezekial Towson in the 1760’s, believed by many to be the establishment that put Towson on the map as a commercial center. Current menu items range in price from $4 to $12, and include, among other items, black truffle sea salt popcorn, grilled shrimp with arugula and shallot relish, and petit lamb porterhouse with Israeli Cous Cous, caramelized red onions, feta and black lava sea salt.
Reservations are available through open table with the kitchen serving Sunday through Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and the bar is open late night. For more information, contact Brian Recher 410-337-7178.
